Well last night didn’t turn out how we had expected. We thought we would spend the night taking some great night time pictures. Instead, we found ourselves at the "Bodies" exhibit. If you don’t know anything about this exhibit, Google it, it will be worth the read. Personally, I found it a bit disturbing. It is a bunch of dead people that are cut up and preserved an a unique way. The boys loved it, I felt a bit queasy. I couldn’t get over the fact that these were real people. I kept imagining that the poor people who donated their bodies to science not knowing the full implications. They are going to cut you up beyond recognition, pose you naked, and show you around the world. Now, I will say that this exhibit would be very helpful to medical school students and doctors. The exhibit focused on muscular, nerve, circulatory, and reproductive systems. Although I did find it cool to see how many veins and arteries you have in your body and the smokers lungs made my new mission in life to get my mom to stop ... (more)
Last night the three of us hit the town alongside Mr. Deem to explore the world of the human body. As a break from the norm, we decided that a biology lesson was a great idea to make our Wed evening complete. There is an exhibition called “Bodies” that is travelling around the world that is currently showing in Prague. The fascinating thing about this exhibition is that all of the exhibits are not your typical plastic replicas of various body parts, but rather actual human bodies that have been preserved through a new scientific method.
Each exhibit was incredibly life-like, almost enough to make you want to jump out of your own skin. Every inch of the human body was on exhibit. Each one was positioned differently emphasizing how different muscles worked. Having studied anatomy and biology, I found this to be quite exciting. There were short little blurbs posted around the exhibition hall with interesting facts about each of the different sections you ... (more)
The last couple of days have gone by pretty quick. Probably because I have slept most of them away. The long trip and running around Prague has really caught up with me. I figure I have walked twice as much as the boys being I am only 5'3. It makes me feel better to think so at least!
I am defiantly missing Hannah, I am in need of a little female perspective. I think with Hannah to balance the boys out we wont get lost half as often!
Well enough joking the boys. So far we are in the pursuit of finding businesses to work for. ... (more)
Yesterday we woke up and went to a restaurant near the Hilton. It claimed to have an American menu. The American breakfast that Chris and Jennifer ate included fried eggs (deep fried), grapes in Nutella(chocolate/peanut butter spread), bacon, and diced peppers. The American continental breakfast that I got had diced up hard boiled egg, multiple slices of provolone cheese, Oscar Meyer ham, toast, and diced peppers and cucumbers. (Right now I can’t stop laughing….Jenny got a Czech version of Sprite it smells and tastes like Deep Woods Off) Okay back to the blog. After the not so American breakfast we met with Mr. Deem. Jenny and Chris worked up a brief ad for the local newspaper and I had it translated in Czech by one of the women working at the Hilton. Jenny also made a flyer to post and hand out in the city. We went to have them printed at a XERTEC (Xerox) for 1/3 the price the Hilton was charging. Our next stop…put more minutes on our phone. ... (more)
Yesterday started off well enough. We all woke up early because we had to go back to the bus tour and pick up my camera, that I had "misplaced." On the way we stopped at a familiar place and got some not so familiar food; McDonalds. Those golden arches beckoned us come to a unique breakfast. I ended up getting a sausage patty on an English muffin type bread with lettuce, tomato, and some weird horseradish sauce and a hash brown all chased down with an American coffee. Oh and one more thing, some nice ketchup for the low price of 5Kr per package. Yes it seemed a bit chincy to charge for ketchup, but for my part I was grateful that it didn’t taste like the sweetened ketchup in Italy!

After contacting him we waited in the lobby for some time and met Norman and Sonny. They were a Husband and wife combo in their late seventies and early eighties from San Diego. After a bit of small travel talk they asked why we were here and where we were from. Of course recently Regent has been making headlines everywhere because of the Federal Prosecutor case. They were very excited that we supported such a great school. Sonny and I began to converse about our schools political affiliation. I told her that even though our University has a Government program we don’t have a particular affiliation. We choose our politicians as individual students and faculty based upon who ever had an agenda that paralleled Christ. ... (more)
This morning we all woke up around 5:15 a.m. our time….that would be 11:15 p.m. your time! We immediately showered, dressed and headed out to find the metro. I should say figure out the metro. After aimlessly heading in differing directions and not getting our boarding passes stamped, we figured it all out. Being Regent MBA’s there is no wonder (that we figured it out, not got confused :P). Our mission was to find Mr. Deem; our contact helping us here in Prague. He had no way of reaching us and we had no way of reaching him. After reaching the Hilton we found out where Americans stay when visiting Prague, it felt like an Embassy. We found Mr. Deem and had breakfast. We began to implement our plan to solidify business buy first finding the local Prague business paper and obtaining contact info. Now we can place an article in the local paper for those who are interested can contact us. ... (more)
I woke up this morning at 5am local time, both Chris and I had finally passed out at around 6pm the night before, exhausted from the plane ride. I was the first one up and took the opportunity to go out on the balcony and look over our little garden. It finally hit me that we made it to our destination. This trip has been a long time coming, but even if we only had today, it was worth it.
We started out the day by finding the metro, which was the beginning of the arduous task of figuring out how to read the street signs. We finally found the metro, then it was figuring out how to buy tickets, and which station to get off on. ... (more)
We all arrived together at Norfolk International Airport at 1:15 to get an early check-in and a bite to eat prior to our 3:25 departure. After a prayer, we continued down the gate and proceeded to enter the plane. Bad weather in Newark…we were on the runway for one hour! Once we arrived in Newark we just made it by 5 minutes. Our flight was smooth as we entered Zurich. Once we landed the intercom cued up and asked that Adon Kelley, Lang-ely, and Wooodworth please see the representatives immediately. A lady met us at the door and had us run behind her….telling us we had 7 minutes before the plane was to leave for Prague and we still had to go through security. Once on the plane, terrible storm grounded us on the runway for a while. We arrived at Prague international to find out that Jennifer and I had to move ahead without our luggage. Hannah had arranged for a driver to pick us up from the airport…. ... (more)
