Well last night didn’t turn out how we had expected. We thought we would spend the night taking some great night time pictures. Instead, we found ourselves at the "Bodies" exhibit. If you don’t know anything about this exhibit, Google it, it will be worth the read. Personally, I found it a bit disturbing. It is a bunch of dead people that are cut up and preserved an a unique way. The boys loved it, I felt a bit queasy. I couldn’t get over the fact that these were real people. I kept imagining that the poor people who donated their bodies to science not knowing the full implications. They are going to cut you up beyond recognition, pose you naked, and show you around the world. Now, I will say that this exhibit would be very helpful to medical school students and doctors. The exhibit focused on muscular, nerve, circulatory, and reproductive systems. Although I did find it cool to see how many veins and arteries you have in your body and the smokers lungs made my new mission in life to get my mom to stop smoking. The smokers lungs really hit home because my grandmother died of the same thing that this person had as well and it really made me a bit emotional. They had a big clear box beside the exhibit saying, "Quit smoking now, leave your cigarettes here." Lets just say it had more than one pack in it.
After our date with death, the boys, Mr. Deem and I headed out to eat. Yes, I again was in awe of their fortitude. They ate Italian no less. Personally, I don’t think I am going anywhere near food for at least a couple of days. I guess I made the right decision to go with being a lawyer instead of a doctor. Feels good to know you made the right decision, from now on, I have no doubt.
This morning started off with us packing up and changing apartments. Besides being someone else's, the apartments' oven didn’t work. The new apartment is much better with two separate rooms, in the European since, meaning that there is a room that has the kitchen and a pull-out couch and a bed room. It is a nice change and gives us each a little more room.
We have figured out how to use the washing machine, although the clothes come out sopping wet and boiling hot. I have set up a temporary clothes line across my room and am now wondering how many days it is going to take to dry all of this laundry. In fact Chris is laughing at me, I think it is picture worthy. I think we have learned a lesson. Small loads daily.
I am still fighting off images of dead people, but for now I am thinking a nice nap would do me some good. Until next time…kiddies...(insert evil laugh here!)
