Tuesday, July 10, 2007: The past couple of days have been a real revelation. First great turn of events….Chris, Jen, and I went to the airport to pick up Hannah. They lost her bags as well. We took the bus back to the apartment…it is amazing how much money you can save when you know how to move around the town. When we initially arrived in Prague the fare cost us around $35 to get to our apartment. This time it cost us about $15. When we arrived back at the apartment we slept for a little while because everyone was exhausted. At 3:30 we were going to meet at a church where another pastor had referred us to talk to a man by the name of John Mullen, at Prague Christian Fellowship. It is also non-coincidental that this is also the same church that my pastor back home had recommended. Through a twist of events we didn’t make any business contacts through this pastor but rather through someone we met at the church. About the church service; it was located off the main road into a square off of any main road. The pastor told us that in the past; only the Catholic churches were allowed to been seen or located off the main roads and all of the Protestant churches must be in back squares out of sight. The service was not only empty with people, but the service itself took an extremely passive role. The music wasn’t heart felt…it seemed people were going through the motions, when it came time to pray, the worship leader and those who were giving the message would ask the congregation to pray instead???? Keep in mind this is for the most part a transient church…tailored to those who speak English and are visiting. It makes those people feel awkward. I know I did. I had a large conviction to let people know that our God is a powerful God….that He was exciting and speaks with authority! I left feeling a little depressed. As we left the building one of the church visitors, Andreas; asked if we were going to eat with the congregation. We told him no and we began a dialogue about what we were doing in Prague. I asked him, what do you do here? He said he was in Asset Management and used to work with the Swiss Bank. He had started a new business about a year ago…I asked him if we could help him in anyway. He grabbed one of our prepared packets for him and we exchanged phone numbers…he walked back into the church and we began to walk away as well. A few moments later, he joined us again and asked if he could join us to the center (of town). He explained that he had a business that could impact thousands, was unique in design and that he needed help from others to view and help with design and implementation. We began working the next day.
Wednesday, July 11, 2007: We begin working….yesterday we met Andreas for lunch and when we returned we initially identified some points of suggestion with the layout of his site. We then reviewed his script for the introduction to his product and began to condense it from 15 minutes to 5; we also looked it over for grammatical errors, created a new logo, identified competitors and there strengths and weaknesses in reference to his product. Today we will be shooting some film for an effective intro and Jen will convert it to a Flash media. I had shared with Andreas that I felt led to come here and I didn’t really understand the full reason why. He told me that we he first left us at the church he felt a strong conviction to go back and find us. That is when he came back. We will also be meeting with Jim from the American firm in regards to a marketing plan for Romanian business. We met Jim in Kutna Hora, he was from Cincinnati, so we had something in common, he informed us that he would be here for seven months and was trying to hire and recruit Czechs for their enterprises abroad…he was having difficulties….so we offered to help. He called yesterday to see if he could meet today.
This is good news, Great!!!! Keep on, keepin on…He is in control!
